The Clipper Ship under full sail
a sight to behold. Masts reaching high into the sky, hulls with knife-edged bows slicing the waves and acres of canvas
driving the ship at 14 knots. Its purpose was clear; transport tea and goods from China to London and New York
as fast as possible. The Clipper Age was short lived, however, and because of their delicate, lightweight structure
these ships soon disappeared. Steam ships took over the shipping lanes and the Clippers sailed into
oblivion. The romance of that age lives on in our hearts and minds.
